So what can a release liner do besides keep a roll of adhesive from sticking together?  At Gleicher Manufacturing, we help design assembly ready parts with release liners everyday reducing manufacturing, labor and material costs while improving safety, inventory control and promotion.  We regularly bring up liner considerations with clients when discussing part design.   At Gleicher, we laser, rotary and die cuts tapes to a release liner and into strips or shapes with a goal to provide the parts to you assembly line ready…  

• in rolls on the continuous liner where you can pick up the part exposing the adhesive and apply it; or

• with perforations in between a part or group of parts for easy access; or

• with a liner that is pre-slit underneath so when you remove 1 side of the liner, ½ of the part adhesive is exposed ready to apply, then pull off the remaining liner half when the part is in position; or

• with a wider area of release liner to act as a ‘tab’ to help with placement of the tape part; or

• with precision holes cut into liner on 1+ sides for registration and fixtures aiding in alignment; or

• in multiple parts in a pad to include in the product packaging for end user to apply (example: 4 small, skid resistant feet in 1 pad for end user to apply to a board game).

-Reduce manufacturing costs. By updating Gleicher on your assembly as it relates to part and liner design, it can help reduce manufacturing costs including labor by improving the speed of application by reducing the number of steps. On larger parts, we could design the part with the 3M Comply Adhesive Performance tapes with a micro-structured pattern liner that impresses within the adhesive layer allowing for bubble-free applications… thereby reduce time spent applying!  Our benchmark products 3M 467 and 3M 468 laminating adhesive now has this new feature that helps reduces air pockets, air entrapment or air bleed.  Micro channel’s built into the adhesive by the liner allows the entrapped air to escape through channels as you wipe down the adhesives. -Labor savings by eliminating picking at liner on individual pieces without wider liner… just peel the cut part off the liner exposing the adhesive and apply… then repeat!

-Reduce material costs. Part and liner design can reduce material costs as the exact tape amount is used each time and liner can be designed to help place the tape part in the correct spot each time liner with split liners, extended liner tabs or registry holes.

-Safety by eliminating sharp blades and scissors from assembly by letting Gleicher cut to size into pieces to the release liner in rolls or pads on a perforated liner.

-Inventory control. The release liner can be perforated or cut after a predetermined amount of parts are cut creating 1 pad of parts so the release liner acts as a kit with a determined number of pieces of tape per unit.

-Promotion. We can even print on the release liner your company name or most any graphic you want and please note printing random company name/graphic placement is more cost effective than indexing.
