DOUBLE  COATED  TAPES

For added stability, a 'carrier', film, tissue or paper, is coated on both sides with a pressure sensitive  adhesive.  3M™ Double Sided Tapes can be laser cut or die cut and applied both manually or through automated equipment.  (Link to double coated foam tapesLink to 3M™ VHB Tapes)

EXTENDED  LINER  TAPES

3M™ Double Coated Tapes Extended Liner are tapes with a double sided adhesive coated on a tissue or film carrier for added stability with a wider liner for easy handling and removal, which application can be automated with dispensers and equipment.

 REMOVABLE  REPOSITIONABLE  TAPES

If you need your part to be repositioned or removed easlily, ask us about 3M™ Removable Repositionable Double Coated Tapes.  The double sided tape is designed with a higher-tack, permanent adhesive on one side, a carrier, and then a low or medium-tack adhesive on the other side. The low or medium tack adhesive side is for repositioning or multiple closures.  Data sheets and list.

DIFFERENTIAL  TAPES

Tapes with dissimilar adhesives coated on each side of the carrier. Examples: Rubber/Acrylic; 9817;   HSE/LSE 9496LE; Acrylic/Silicone 9731

Application Guidelines

screen_shot_2012-07-27_at_4.48.11_pm

For maximum bond strength the surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned with a 50:50
mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water. Consult manufacturers directions for use and
precautions when using cleaning solvents.

Ideal tape application is accomplished when temperature is between 21°C and 38°C (between 70°F and 100°F) and the bond is allowed to dwell 72 hours. Initial tape application to surfaces at temperatures below 10°C (50°F) is not recommended.
